Victor Gray (PI)
I obtained my PhD from Chalmers University of Technology in Sweden with Kasper Moth Poulsen and Maria Abrahamsson (2017). I later spent 3 years at the Cavendish Laboratory, University of Cambridge (UK), as a postdoctoral researcher with Akshay Rao. In 2022 I joined Uppsala University as an independent researcher studying photophysical processes in solar energy harvesting materials. I love seeing the colorful and emissive materials that we work with.

Sree Chithra (PhD Student)
I have done my BS-MS in Chemistry from IISER Bhopal with my master’s thesis focusing on the applications of spectroscopy. I get crazy every time I see fluorescence from molecules. I think singlet fission is really cool and I am curious to see it’s applications in less explored fields like photocatalysis. When I’m not doing science, I enjoy listening to music, watching movies, traveling and trying new foods.

Kangwei Wang (Post Doc, w. Prof. Henrik Ottosson)
I received my Ph. D. in Material Science and Engineering at Wuhan University of Technology (China) in 2024, with the supervision of Prof. Jianlong Xia. During my Ph. D, I have been working on studying the photoinduced excited-state dynamics of carefully designed novel materials by using steady-state and time-resolved spectroscopy, mainly focusing on the triplet dynamics and underlying mechanisms of singlet fission. In April 2025, I joined Dr. Henrik Ottosson’s group at Uppsala University as a Wenner-Gren Postdoc fellow, with a strong cooperation with Dr. Victor Gray in exciton dynamics. Here I will continue to study singlet fission using both theoretical calculation and spectroscopy. In my leisure time, I like listening to music, especially the rock music show, playing badminton and cooking.

Sunil Kumar Kandappa (Post Doc)
I obtained my Ph. D in Photochemical Sciences from the Centre for Photochemical Sciences at Bowling Green State University, Ohio (2019) with Prof. Jayaraman Sivaguru. My Ph. D work is on altering the excited state to discover new photochemical reactivity. Prior to Ph. D program, I worked as a project assistant at JNCASR, India. After Ph. D, I joined University of Southern California as a postdoctoral fellow with Prof. Mark Thompson to work on organic photovoltaic materials. In August 2023, I joined Dr. Victor Gray’s group at Ångström laboratory, Uppsala University as a postdoctoral fellow to work on photon upconversion materials. In my leisure time, I like watching movies, hiking, and exploring new food.

Emil Säbb (PhD Student with Prof. Henrik Ottosson)
Greetings! I am Emil Säbb, I did my BSc and MSc degrees at Uppsala University, specializing in Physical Chemistry. Currently, my project as a Ph.D. student at Uppsala University under the co-supervision of Victor Gray is the investigation of singlet fission in organic molecules for the enhancement of photovoltaic devices. When I am not working, I am visiting the beautiful Uppsala countryside on my trusty bike. From the kitchen to the lab, the best part is making it with your own hands (I really like baking by the way). Working with the fission of excited states as well as colorful materials makes me personally excited.
